Pylons bad, tower blocks good?

What I don't really understand here is why pylons are bad, yet its improvement to replace them on the skyline with towers: 41 storeys at 150 Stratford High St and the Rogers Hotel Tower proposed immediately north of Stratford International (both conveniently outside of the PDA Planning Area). Or are there up-to-date visions which don't include these big things?

Seb & Co:
"The removal of 52 electricity pylons, each 65 metres high, and the
switchover to underground power supplies, should be completed by
August 2008.
London 2012 says the games are about far more than creating a
memorable summer of sport in five years' time, and the removal of the
unsightly pylons is an important example of how the project will
immeasurably improve the area for generations to come. Lord Coe
said: "We will use the games as a catalyst for spectacular
regeneration."

In blogger it would appear that if you enclose for example a URL, or a snip of a quote, in coding (angled) brackets it gets cut, and your message can end up looking like nonsense

When is a reedbed not a reedbed?...

When is a reedbed not a reedbed?...
When its the Paralympic Welcome Ceremony Area!

Before, in Games Mode its a reedbed, as part of their flood Mitigation planning one assumes, the very one they're replacing Red Ken's Newt pond with. Afterwards as Legacy its a reedbed too, but during the Paralympics its to be the Welcome Ceremony Area. There's more to see on Wikimapia at:
